A road people drive for a day out
The A72 from Hazelbank through Crossford to Rosebank is lined with garden centres, cafes and places to stop. Plenty of the traffic is folk out for a run on a Sunday. A lot of the businesses along the valley live off weekend trade and Google Maps.
The valley was famous for its orchards and tomato glasshouses, and you can still see where some of them stood. Craignethan Castle sits above Crossford, and most folk round here have walked the river path at some point.
For trades, the valley is mostly older cottages and bigger houses with bigger gardens. That’s landscaping, fencing, driveways, roofs and windows. Customers here usually want someone local who knows the roads, not a firm from the other side of Glasgow.
Getting found by valley customers
Nobody searches for ‘joiner Clyde Valley’. They search ‘joiner Lanark’, ‘joiner Carluke’ or ‘joiner Larkhall’, depending on which end of the valley they’re at. So your website and Google profile need to name the towns at both ends, plus the villages in between.
If you run a cafe, a shop or a venue, it’s different. People search for you by name, or for ‘cafe near me’ while they’re already driving. That’s all down to your Google profile: opening hours that are right, recent photos and plenty of reviews.

Questions from the Clyde Valley businesses
Do you work with cafes and venues, not just trades?
Yes. Most of my work is with trades, but I work with other small local businesses too. Have a look at the other businesses section.
My Google opening hours keep changing. Why?
Google lets the public suggest edits and sometimes changes things itself. Someone needs to check your profile regularly and fix them. That’s part of what I do.
Can you guarantee me the top of Google?
No, and be wary of anyone who does. What I can do is sort the things Google looks at for local searches: your profile, your reviews and your website.
Do you charge per lead or take a cut of my jobs?
No. No lead fees and no commission. You pay a set price, and every price is published on the pricing page.
Ready when you are.
Call, message or book a chat. If I’m not the right fit, I’ll tell you.
